Pearl Girls School
This is a pro bono project completed by the Gensler Atlanta 2018 summer interns. We were tasked by our client, Project Orphans, to develop a full secondary level education school for girls at their Pearl Village, located in Luweero, Uganda. The final deliverable included drawings equivalent to final construction documents in Uganda, as well as a full branding and marketing collateral package to be used by the client for fundraising. The final deliverable also included drawings for all furniture and signage to be utilized at the school.
Roles and Responsibilities: As Co-leader of the University Outreach Program my role is oversight of the project and team, in essence a project manager. The Summer Internship Team is a highly fluid team, and everyone has a hand in everything. My responsibilities include establishing contact with potential clients for selection of a pro bono project; selection of the client and project to be developed; recruitment and selection of the intern team; creating the project syllabus, program, and schedule in collaboration with the client; logistics with office leadership, studio leaders, studio admin, and office schedule; technical and design expertise/support and reviews; and point of contact for the client relationship.
